Mom thinks she was 15-18 months oldĀ in Miami, Oklahoma on her family’s six acre farm near the local country club. Wearing hand-me-downs from her brother Conrad.
Probably age two, “Finally got some hair.” This one reminds me of Kate.
Spring of 1939, Mom in a hoodie, Conrad wearing a Boy Scout hat, and Mammy sporting a ladies fedora.

We OBVIOUSLY need more current photos including bows in your hair. Fabulous!

Very cute. Mammy’s stance is funny. It looks like she’s waiting to see what you’re up to, yet ready to intervene at any moment. I am guessing that you kept her on her toes!
This photo also helps to explain Annie’s *extensive* hat collection. Looks like hat-wearing runs in the family!
Great photos. Keep ‘em coming!

Loved the baby pics. I remember when Ibby was a little older, she always had braids. Any pics?

Did your Grandmother curl your hair with rags to make ringlets like mine did? These are great pictures!

I love these pictures…It’s so wonderful to see that the little face in those pictures is still in the grown up face…Elizabeth’s hair may change but the eyes and that spirited look has not. Love, Diane
p.s. Daughter Hilary thinks I haven’t changed since my baby (3 year old) pics either!

What a treat to relive the good olde days! It is fun seeing the present Elizabeth in those early pictures.
Celebrate! That is the theme for this year for the Whatcom Museum Guild and for all of us. September’s meeting is all about PURSES because of the Ries Niemi sculputure in the Lightcatcher Courtyard.
So dig out your most incredible purse and join the fun on the second Thursday in Sept….for our Parade of Purses!!
Hoping August is kinder to you, dear Elizabeth!
Love,
Gail

Mammy’s stance may be explained by the event taking place. It seems pretty clear that this is early, rare documentation of Elizabeth’s first foot race. Conrad is taking a sight line down the track while directing his sister on the goal, ”Now sis’, see that big rock there…”. Their mother is hoping for a good start, leaning slightly toward the young runner. Elizabeth is soooo ready to go! With her ever-present smile!

I love the photo of Elizabeth in her brother’s old clothes. Clearly, her sartorial standards changed at some point, possibly by age two if the second photo is anything to go by.

Greetings from Livermore, CA! Elizabeth, the beret in the first picture looks very chic on you — you developed a flair for style very precociously, didn’t you. And I agree with earlier comments that the “You” of you, your inner beauty and spirit, shows through clearly in these toddler photos. They’re just wonderful.
Hope to see you for tea and talk after returning from this visit to my Dad on the 16th. love, Pat
